Electrolux UltraSilencer Review

Electrolux UltraSilencerThe Electrolux UltraSilencer vacuum is a stylish canister model with, you guessed it, special silencing technology. In this review of the Electrolux UltraSilencer, well take a look at this vacuum cleaner’s best and worst assets. First, we’ll start off with the best features found on this model: HEPA filter, 20 ft cord length, automatic cord rewind, telescoping wand, special noise-reducing technology, full size turbo nozzle, a couple attachments for the wand, and it’s very powerful as well. The large wheels on the canister make it easy to tow around. I mentioned before how stylish this this vacuum is, but it’s great that this model is both stylish and very functional as well. And yes, this is one of the quietest model’s you’ll every find.

Now, I’ll go over any potential negative aspects of the Electrolux UltraSilencer vacuum. The consensus amongst users seems to be that this model is not that great on carpet – it does much better on bare floors. The suction power isn’t the problem, it’s the configuration of the head that doesn’t allow it to sweep on carpets very well. The bags and filters tend to be pretty pricey as well. Other than those couple issues, I think the Electrolux UltraSilencer is an awesome vacuum cleaner. However, I can only give it 4 / 5 stars, because of the poor suction on carpets.

Bissell Zing Review

Bissell ZingThe Bissell Zing vacuum is a simple canister model with a super low price tag of just $60. As far as looks go, this model is actually quite stylish. In this review of the Bissell Zing vacuum cleaner, I’ll be going over this model’s best and worst assets. Here’s a rundown of the features you’ll find on this unit: 10 amps of power, a 15 ft power cord, telescoping extension wand, crevice tool and brush, auto cord rewind, variable suction control, and it can work on both carpet and bare floors. Another nice thing about this vacuum is that it comes with six spare bags, which is nice because they can be a bit pricey.

Now let’s move onto the negative aspects of the Bissell Zing vacuum cleaner. I think the biggest complaint on this model is the super-short cord length. The manufacturer claims it’s 15 ft long, but a lot of users say it is even shorter – that’s a ridiculously short cord. Another complaint is that the suction power isn’t strong enough to get the dirt out of thicker carpets. Quite honestly, the suction isn’t all that good. It’s better than a stick vacuum, but that’s not saying a lot. While I really like the exterior look of the Bissell Zing, I’m a little less enthusiastic about the build quality. I guess you have to expect that with a cheaper vacuum though. Overall, this model is OK, just not spectacular. I’m giving this model a 3.8 / 5 star rating, because it’s still a decent model, especially for $60.

Bissell DigiPro Review

Bissell DigiProThe Bissell DigiPro canister vacuum is a fairly bulky 12-Amp model with a red exterior. While I’m not that into the exterior, I think it does have great features. In this review of the Bissell DigiPro vacuum cleaner, I’ll go over this model’s best and worst assets. First off, here’s a rundown of the better features you’ll find on this model: a motorized rotating brush, bag change indicator light, flex hose, a telescoping wand with multiple on-board tools, easy glide wheels, washable HEPA filter, and variable power control. I love how maneuverable this vacuum is. The washable HEPA filter and on-board tools are also pretty cool.

Now I’ll go over the potential negative aspects of the Bissell DigiPro vacuum. First off, I think the suction power is a little sub-par. It can pick up most dirt fine, but it’s definitely not as powerful as some of the competition. Another thing I’m not so keen on is the durability of this unit. Along with being somewhat unattractive, I think the build quality is not that great. With a $230 price tag, the Bissell DigiPro is price pretty competitively. Overall, I’m giving this vacuum cleaner a 3.8 / 5 star rating.

Dyson DC23 Turbinehead Review

Dyson DC23 TurbineheadThe Dyson DC23 Turbinehead vacuum cleaner is an innovative bagless canister model, which is a lot smaller than most of the competition. In this review of the Dyson DC23 Turbinehead, I’ll go over it’s best features, as well as the potential downsides to owning this vacuum. As with most models from this manufacturer, I absolutely love the design. It’s sleek, curvy, and hard to keep from admiring the style. As far as features go, here’s a rundown of what you’ll get with this model: a nearly 22 ft power cord, HEPA filter, motorized brush roll, 12 V of power, 5 year warranty, a 10 inch cleaning path, and an easy-empty canister. It’s also extremely powerful for a little vacuum.

Unfortunately, there are a couple negative aspects with the Dyson DC23 Turbinehead vacuum, which I’ll go over. First off, it weighs a whopping 24 pounds – which is heavier than most canister models. On the other hand, you can tell it’s made of high-quality materials. The nearly $400 price tag is also going to deter some people. Another couple issues I have with the Dyson DC23 Turbinehead vacuum are: I’m not sure how well the latch components will hold up, and the canister seems a little small. Overall, I think this is one of the best canister vacuum cleaners out there. I’m giving it a 4.5 / 5 star rating.

Eureka Boss Mighty Mite Vacuum Review

Eureka Boss Mighty MiteOur Eureka Boss Mighty Mite review: If you’re in the market for a small, inexpensive canister vacuum, the Might Mite 3670G model is definitely one to look into. In this review, I’ll go over this model’s best features, as well as it’s biggest flaws. Here are the features you’ll find on-board: 6-piece attachment set, 20 foot power cord, a crush-proof hose, triple filtration bag, 2 extension wands, and a powerful 12-amp motor. I really like the large wheels in the back, it makes it easier to drag the Eureka Boss Mighty Mite around.

Now, I’ll go over the potential negative aspects of this vacuum cleaner. First off, the 20 ft cord is much too short. Also, the cord is not retractable – which is more of a convenience, but still a nice touch. The build quality is a little sub-par as well. I guess it’s what you could expect from a $65 vacuum. I do really like how powerful the Eureka Boss Mighty Mite vacuum is, but there are just a few things I don’t like. Overall, I’d say it’s worth the money – but, at the same time I don’t expect it to last much longer than a year or two. I’m giving it a 3.9 / 5 star rating.

Miele S4582 Eclipse Vacuum Review

Miele S4582 EclipseThe Miele S4582 Eclipse vacuum cleaner is a very stylish canister model. The 1200 watt motor is noticeably more powerful than your average canister vacuum. Another thing I love about the Miele S4582 Eclipse is the double filter system (including a HEPA filter), which ensures that no dust escapes while it’s in use. The 29.5 ft power cord is long enough to clean up a large room with ease. You can also go up most flights of stairs without replugging it in. A couple other cool features on this vacuum: dustbag indicator light, electric power display, quiet operation, it’s lightweight (10.5 lbs), it has a safety shutoff feature for overheating, and it also has a great tool selection.

There’s not much to complain about with the Miele S4582 Eclipse vacuum. A few users had trouble vacuuming up pet hair on carpets, but I think 99% of models would have trouble with that. I think the biggest downside is the price – currently around $580. It’s definitely an investment, but I think you’ll notice the difference once you start using it. I’m really impressed with the Miele S4582 Eclipse, and am giving it a 4.7 / 5 star rating.

Kenmore 28614 Review

Kenmore 28614Our Kenmore 28614 review:If you’re looking for a powerful canister model, the Kenmore 28614 vacuum cleaner is definitely one to check out. As with most models from this Sears manufacturer, it is solidly built. A few of it’s most prominent features include: True HEPA filter, telescopic wand, motorized Pet PowerMate, indicator light when bag is full, stair grip swivel for easy stair cleaning, and a good amount of other useful attachments. The actual vacuum is fairly small, so you can drag it into tight places and store it in a small closet.

Unfortunately, there are a few issues with the Kenmore 28614 vacuum. It’s a little heavier than a lot of competitor models, but this is mainly due to the fact it’s built with quality materials. However, this makes a little more difficult to drag up and down stairs. Also, the handle can be a little hard to turn. Last thing that a lot of users complain about is the noise. Yes, it is quite loud – however, I think most people don’t mind that so much as long as it’s actually picking up the dirt (which it does). Overall, I really like the Kenmore 28614. It’s currently on sale for around $270. I’m giving this vacuum a 4.5/5 star rating.

Dirt Devil Easy Lite Review

Dirt Devil Easy LiteThere are a lot of Dirt Devil Easy Lite reviews out there, and I’ve noticed that the vast majority of them are positive. For the most part, I would tend to agree with them. I think the Dirt Devil Easy Lite canister vacuum is a bargain at just $90. It’s not the best canister vacuum out there, but it’s hard to beat at that price.

There are a few things I really like about this model. First off, I noticed how quiet it runs – even the wheels on the canister itself didn’t make any noise when dragged around. I also like the suction power on the Dirt Devil Easy Lite. A few other features that make this an excellent buy: the handle is adjustable, it works well on carpet and hardwood floors (I think it works best on hard floors though!), the retractable cord and it is lightweight.

The Dirt Devil Easy Lite vacuum does have a few drawbacks as well. For starters, it’s a little hard to push over carpet. I know there is a setting for carpet, but it’s still not super easy. I also don’t like the quality of the attachments, they are pretty cheaply made. Those are the main two things I wish would be fixed. Other than that, I think the Easy Lite canister vacuum is a great buy. I give it a 4/5 star rating.

Dyson DC23 Motorhead

Dyson DC23 MotorheadThe Dyson DC23 Motorhead is a compact canister vacuum. Actually, the Dyson DC23 Motorhead looks very similar to the DC22 I just reviewed – although, this model is powered by the Level 3 Root Cyclone system instead of the digital motor. It’s still a good system, but probably not quite as powerful nor does it have as much “cool” factor. A few features you’ll find on this vacuum cleaner are: a motorized brush bar (great for picking up pet hair), HEPA filter, a hose and wand that wrap around the vacuum, easy to empty canister, and a slew of additional wand fittings.

The fact that the Dyson DC23 Motorhead is so small is great for storing in tight places. One drawback to being small – the canister is not very big, so you’ll have to empty it quite often. There doesn’t seem to be a lot to complain about on this vacuum cleaner though.

Dyson DC22 Turbinehead Review

Dyson DC22 TurbineheadMy Dyson DC22 Turbinehead review: Powered by a digital motor, the Dyson DC22 Turbinehead vacuum is one good looking machine. Since it’s a canister vacuum, it is actually about 1/3 the size of a normal upright Dyson. But don’t mistake smaller for cheaper – it costs around $650-$700, which is more than any current upright model. I really like the filtration system on this model, it’s basically HEPA grade. I also love how small this vacuum is, making it really easy to stick in a small closet. And, like all Dyson’s, the suction is amazing and it’s bagless.

Even though the Dyson DC22 Turbinehead is small in size, it is actually quite heavy. I don’t really mind too much, because normally heavy equals a quality build. However, I can see it being a bit of a nuisance for people with a lot of stairs. You also have to be prepared to empty the canister at least once every time you use it (the canister is quite small). Lastly, I think the cord could have been a couple inches longer. It won’t reach across a big room very well.

So, I wouldn’t say this model is without faults. However, there’s a lot to like about the Dyson DC22 Turbinehead vacuum. I can’t give it 5 stars because of the price and the few minor issues I mentioned above, but I think it’s still worthy of 4/5 stars. Well done Dyson, once again.

Kenmore 27914 Canister Vacuum Review

Kenmore 27914 Canister VacuumMy Kenmore 27914 canister vacuum review: I can’t say the Kenmore 27914 vacuum is the cheapest model available (currently $380), however I do think it is worth the money. Kenmore sells a lot of different canister models, and this one is right in the middle, as far as pricing goes. At 27 lbs, it’s not the lightest choice, but I think makes up for that in features.

Some of the features I really like on this vacuum are: a hose that expands to 12 ft, a 14 inch wide cleaning path, HEPA filtration system, retractable cord, dirt indicator light, lots of on-board tools, and I think the Kenmore 27914 just looks great. A couple things I don’t really care for are the cheaper plastic exterior (which doesn’t really affect its appearance), and the 26 ft cord could be a bit longer.

Even with those minor issues, I think the Kenmore 27914 canister vacuum is a good buy. I think it’s one of the best canister models currently available, especially staying under $500. I give this model a highly recommended 4/5 stars.

Germ Guardian Vacuum Review

Germ Guardian VacuumMy brief Germ Guardian vacuum review: The Germ Guardian vacuum cleaner I’m looking at today is the 2-in-1 upright and canister model (currently being sold at WalMart). The fact that this machine works well for both bare floors and also carpets / area rugs is a huge benefit. I’ve been fairly impressed at how well the Germ Guardian vacuum picks up normal dust in the house, as well as pet fur. The attachments are really useful, especially the one with the spin brush. It can be used in tight places to help suck up pet hair and dirt. A couple other things that are great are the long cord, the quality design and it looks fairly stylish.

The Germ Guardian vacuum does has a few draw-backs though. Some tools do not have a very good place to store them, which can be a little annoying. Also, the extension pole could be a little big longer. Lastly, the price is a little much. However, I can’t complain too much about that last one – it’s still priced pretty competitively with similar vacuum cleaners. Overall, I give the Germ Guardian 2-in-1 upright and canister vacuum 4/5 stars.

Black & Decker VN1400P Retriever Vacuum Review

Black & Decker VN1400P RetrieverA vacuum cleaner review of the Black & Decker VN1400P vacuum says: “The Black & Decker VN1400P Retriever vacuum cleaner is targeted towards pet owners. It does do a fairly good job at picking up pet hair on carpets, and does an exceptionally good job on bare floors. As I’ve read on some other vacuum reviews, the suction on this thing is very good. It’s pretty quiet as well, so that’s a plus. The construction is better than your average unit of this price. The other thing I love is how many attachments are included with this vacuum. You really have a tool for just about anything.

Like I mentioned before, the suction is wonderful, but it really tapers off when you put on the attachments. This is a little disappointing, since there are a lot of good attachments included. Also, the beater brush isn’t great on certain carpet heights. Sometimes it even stops turning. I wouldn’t say this is the best vacuum for cleaning up pet hair on carpets, but if you have bare floors this thing works like none other. The Black & Decker VN1400P Retriever canister vacuum cleaner is unfortunately lacking in some key areas, but overall is a good little machine.”

Hoover Platinum Lightweight Bagged Upright with Canister Vacuum Review

Hoover Platinum Lightweight Bagged Upright CanisterA vacuum cleaner review of the Hoover Platinum Lightweight Bagged Upright with Canister vacuum cleaner states: “The Hoover Platinum bagged upright canister vacuum (UH30010COM) is simply the best. I can’t get over the auto carpet height adjuster, it’s such a neat feature. I really only like quality built vacuums, and this is definitely one of them. It really light, yet feels very sturdy in the hands. You can tell the difference if you pick up one of the cheaper competitor vacuums. The canister works great for all upholstery, couch and other tight places.

Although I can’t say enough positive about this vacuum cleaner, I also have a couple things I don’t really like. First is the price. It’s pretty expensive (but still worth it), at around $400. Next is that it doesn’t have an on-off switch for the brush roller. This is fine if you have only carpets, but if you have some bare floors, it can get annoying. Lastly are the bags. They aren’t exactly cheap, at around $5 a pop. All that aside, I haven’t had a vacuum I love this much – ever. The Hoover Platinum lightweight bagged upright canister vacuum cleaner is definitely recommendable.”

Kenmore 27514 Blue Canister Vacuum Review

Kenmore 27514 Blue CanisterA Kenmore 27514 Blue Canister vacuum cleaner review states: “The Kenmore 27514 Blue Canister vacuum cleaner works perfectly for my house. I have a pretty wide open floor plan with hardwood and carpet. It easily reaches everything with it’s long cord, plus you can use the attachments to clean up the upholstery, the blinds and cob-webs on the ceiling. The switch in the handle makes it even more convenient to use and switch attachments. It’s also fairly  lightweight, so it’s not a problem to bring it upstairs if you need to. I also really like the electronic performance indicator, which tells you when you need to change the back or check for blockages.

Even though I love my Kenmore 27514 Blue Canister vacuum, I know a lot of other reviews I’ve read do not like it. They mention that it seems a little cheap (as far as the plastic goes), and even have wheels breaking. I haven’t had it long enough to see that happen, and hopefully it never will. So far, I’m very pleased with the way it’s worked and the suction is wonderful. It picks up pet hair quite well. I’d give it an even higher rating if it didn’t cost quite so much. But, I can’t complain too much, because most good vacuums cost this much.”
