Hoover UH30010COM Review

Hoover UH30010COMOur Hoover UH30010COM review: Weighing in at just under 12 lbs, the Hoover UH30010COM vacuum (Platinum Lightweight Bagged Upright) is one of the lightest full-sized models available. I really like the look of this machine, it’s sleek and stylish. A few features you’ll find on this model are: Hoover’s Windtunnel Technology, super-long 35 ft cord, a portable canister vacuum is included, self sealing HEPA bag, check bag indicator light, a couple on-board tools for the portable, and a spectacular 6-year warranty. It’s nice when a company backs up and believes in their product enough to give it such a long warranty. Also, the suction on this model is spectacular.

Now we’ll go over a few complaints about the Hoover UH30010COM vacuum. First of all there isn’t a brush roll on-off button. This can get annoying on bare floors especially. Another thing is that the replacement bags cost around $5 each, which is fairly expensive. Unfortunately, there is no automatic cord rewind feature on this vacuum. It can get a little tedious winding up 35 ft of cord. The last thing is a little bit petty, but would still be nice to have fixed - the portable canister strap has no pad on it. Quite honestly, I can get over 95 percent of these negatives. The price has dropped a lot since it first came out, and you can currently get the Hoover UH30010COM vacuum for around $220 in some stores. I’m giving it a 4.5/5 star rating.

Hoover FloorMate Hard Floor Cleaner Review

Hoover FloorMateThe Hoover FloorMate Hard Floor Cleaner is an interesting concept. It vacuums, washes and dries multiple hard floor surfaces. Other vacuum manufacturers have tried similar concepts, but I haven’t come across any that really do a spectacular job. I think the Hoover FloorMate is the best of the group, but even this model has it’s flaws. A couple things I don’t like: the liquid cleaner can get expensive and the filter needs replaced quite often. Now, I know you can make your own cleaner, which would be cheaper – but most people wouldn’t attempt to do that. Also, I don’t like how easily hair gets stuck on the bottom of the vacuum cleaner.

The Hoover FloorMate does work pretty well though. If you can get past the costs associated with using it, you’ll love not having to mop the old fashioned way. It especially does well on tile floors. A few other things I like about this vacuum cleaner: the cord is nice and long, it looks stylish, and the cleaner smells great. Overall, I wouldn’t give the Hoover Floormate top ratings, but I’m still giving it  3.5/5 stars.

Best Vacuum for Frieze Carpet

Frieze Carpet VacuumIf you’ve just installed frieze carpet in your house, you’ll definitely want to find the best vacuum for your new frieze carpet. As you know, the threads on this type of carpet are usually a little longer than a lot of alternative carpeting options. It looks great, but can be a pain to clean if you don’t have the right equipment. Well, I’ve researched many different vacuum models, and have come up with two models that should work great for your new frieze carpet.

The Electrolux Oxygen 3 is my top choice for the best vacuum for frieze carpet. There are different models of this vacuum cleaner, but they all seem to work very well on carpet. One that works especially well is the EL7020 canister model. It automatically adjusts the height, so you won’t be straining yourself trying to push the wand over the carpet. It does a great job on all styles of floors, so you shouldn’t have a problem going from tile to frieze carpet.

Hoover Tempo U5140-900 is my second choice. It’s a whole lot cheaper than the Electrolux model, which is always nice. The one thing I don’t like about this vacuum is that the beater bar doesn’t stop turning when you’re not on carpet. However, it does do a good job on frieze carpet and all other types of carpet as well. Plus it’s very lightweight, so you shouldn’t have a problem pushing this one around either.

Best Vacuum Under $100

Best vacuum under $100My search for the best vacuum under $100 has brought me to two final vacuum cleaners. A lot of times a vacuum under $100 may seem cheap, or not as appealing as its more expensive competitors. However, I think these two models really buck that trend.

The first best vacuum under $100 is the Eureka Optima 437AZ. This model has great suction, even picking up the finest dirt with ease. The retractable handle is really useful, especially for shorter or taller people. It’s also very lightweight, at just under 12 lbs. There are a few things I would change if I could, but at around $80, it’s a bargain.

The second vacuum cleaner is the Hoover Tempo U5140-900. It costs around $75, depending on where you purchase it. The suction on this model is also spectacular. Although, it does much better on carpets than on bare floors. It’s also lightweight and gets into tight corners easily. If you’re looking for a quieter vacuum, I think this one beats the Optima by just a little.

Either of these two vacuums are a steal, and are well under the $100 dollar mark. One really isn’t better than the other, they just have different benefits. I hope this advice helps you on your way to finding the best vacuum under $100.

Hoover Elite Rewind Review

Hoover Elite Rewind VacuumMy Hoover Elite Rewind review: Basically, the Hoover Elite Rewind vacuum is OK – not great or horrible, but average. That’s not to say it doesn’t have it’s positives. First off, the auto-rewind cord is a pretty cool little feature that I wish were on more vacuum cleaners. Also, the suction is very powerful and can suck up pet hair well. I also like the attachments, they are all pretty useful.

Now, let’s get to the nitty gritty. I’ve heard way too many complaints about the Hoover Elite Rewind vacuum’s belts breaking. After going through a few belts, it can start to get annoying. Also, the agitator roller bar gets clogged pretty easily. Some users even mention the plastic starting to burn if the roller bar gets stuck for too long. Lastly, the suction on this vacuum cleaner seems to diminish considerably after 6 months to 1 year of normal usage. Considering the Hoover Elite Rewind’s price and features, I’d give this vacuum 3/5 stars.

Best Vacuum For Small Apartment

Best Vacuum Small ApartmentSearching for the best vacuum for a small apartment? Well, we’ve done some research and come up with two of the best vacuums for small apartments on the market today. Both of them have above average suction, are fairly quiet (you don’t want to get the neighbors angry!), and both are small. OK, let’s get started.

The Electrolux Oxygen 3 Canister is one of the best vacuums for small apartments. After using it, you’ll notice how small, lightweight and easy to manuever this model is. It also comes with a lot of extras, such as a full bag indicator and it automatically stops if clogged. The suction is great and works well for allergy sufferers. Like I mentioned earlier, this vacuum is also much quieter than competitor models. It’s not cheap though, at around $450.

The second best vacuum for small apartments is the Hoover Platinum Linx stick vacuum. I normally don’t care much for stick models, because they feel cheap or don’t have very good suction. This particular machine seems to buck the trend. It is cordless, so it won’t last too long – however, it should be just the right amount to clean up a smaller apartment (say, 600-700 sq ft). The build quality is great, and the suction is one of the best I’ve even seen on a stick vacuum. It also has one-touch brushroll activation and cleans edges easily. Storing this model takes up very little space. It retails for around $180.

So, those are two of the best vacuums you’ll find for smaller apartments. I know the prices are a little higher, especially on the first model, but if you can afford it I would definitely reccomend either one.

Hoover Nano Light Vacuum Review

Hoover Nano Light VacuumMy Hoover Nano Light vacuum review: The Hoover Nano Light vacuum is a compact, bagless machine. It weighs around 12 lbs, yet manages to pack some pretty powerful suction. I’m not a big fan of the design – I think it looks pretty cheap. However, at just $57 that’s about all one could expect. It does include a few tools, which a lot of competitors at this price range do not. The detachable hose is nice, but I wish it were about twice as long.

The Hoover Nano Light vacuum would work best in smaller spaces. It’s a nice little machine for apartments, condos, dorm rooms & possibly small houses. However, the 20 ft cord is just not long enough for bigger spaces. I definitely think this vacuum had the potential to be great, but there are a couple things I wish I could change. If you live in a smaller living space and are on a tight budget, I think the Hoover Nano Light would be a good fit for you. You can get it now at Walmart.com.

Hoover Whisper Cyclonic Upright Vacuum Review

Hoover Whisper CyclonicMy Hoover Whisper vacuum review: The Hoover Whisper cyclonic upright vacuum cleaner seems like a hidden gem to me. It’s a bagless model, with Hoover’s patented multi-stage cyclonic technology. It also has very powerful suction, carpet height adjustments, a HEPA filtration system & is a little quieter than competitors. One of the great things about this vacuum is that it works well on both hardwood floors & carpets.

A lot of users actually compare the Hoover Whisper cyclonic vacuum to Dyson competitors. And while this model can justly be compared to a Dyson in a lot of ways, it does have a couple minor issues. The first problem I have with this vacuum is the features – mainly the attachments aren’t the highest quality.  I also have a problem with how heavy it is; it can be a real pain hauling up the stairs. Even with this flaws, I would highly recommend this vacuum cleaner. You can buy it now for $100 at Walmart online.

Best Inexpensive Vacuum

Best Inexpensive VacuumThe best inexpensive vacuum would depend heavily on what is meant by “inexpensive”. Well, in this case I’m referring to vacuums which are under $100. A lot of people end up buying the high-end (expensive) models, just because they think they must work better if they cost more. Well, this is not always the case. In fact, I think these two models below are better in a lot of ways than some of their high-end competitors – yet, cost under $100.

The Hoover U5140-900 Tempo is one of the best inexpensive vacuums because of its suction, lightweight & low dust emissions. It also comes with an allergen filter, which isn’t quite as good as HEPA – but it’s definitely worth having. It doesn’t do super well on hard floors, but is great for carpets. This vacuum costs around $75, depending on where you get it.

The Hoover S2220 Flair stick vacuum made our list of top inexpensive vacuums because of its small lightweight form, its ease of use in tight places & also it is fairly quiet. Of course, the $50 price tag is very attractive as well. Being a stick vacuum, you can’t expect it to do everything, but it does a great job with smaller spaces.

I realize these 2 choices are both Hoovers. There are other brands which make a good budget vacuum cleaner, but Hoover just happens to make some of the best inexpensive vacuum on the market today. Overall, my top choice would be the Hoover U5140-900 Tempo. It’s a great all-around performer, and is well under the $100 range.

Best Vacuum For The Money

Best Vacuum for the moneyFinding the best vacuum for the money is not always easy. There are a lot of cheap models out there, but we’ve narrowed the best vacuums for the money down to 3 models. Each of them have their benefits and drawbacks, but all are fairly inexpensive.

Eureka Boss SmartVac 4870MZ – This bagged vacuum does a great job at picking up pet hair and comes loaded with a couple attachments. The suction is great and it includes a HEPA filtration system. It does weigh 21 lbs, so it’s the heaviest of all 3 models. It is built well though, so you can’t complain too much. It’s an all-around good vacuum for a fair price of $140.

Hoover Tempo U5140-900 – This unit can easily be considered one of the best vacuums for the money. It’s lightweight, solidly built (although the plastic exterior doesn’t really look like it), the suction is excellent, it has an allergen filtration system & of course is relatively inexpensive – around $80.

Eureka 71B Handheld – This little vacuum has great suction and is small enough to squeeze into tight places. It works especially well on stairs and for picking up pet hair. It also works well on fabrics, and a lot of people use it to vacuum their car out. The one negative is that it’s a little loud. However, the $50 price tag compensates for some of the noise.

The best vacuum for the money out of these 3 models, in my opinion, is the Hoover Tempo U5140-900. Even though the price is low, it doesn’t sacrifice on the essentials. The other 2 models definitely have their place. They would work better in different situations – so depending on your situation, you may end up choosing them.

Top Vacuum Cleaners

Top Vacuum CleanersThe top vacuum cleaners in the categories below are based upon 100′s of consumer reviews, pricing, and how well the features of these top vacuum cleaners match up against similar competitors. I’ve selected 5 popular categories, since different consumers are looking for specific types of vacuums. Each category has our pick of the best vacuum next to it, and a few comments on why it was chosen.

Budget Model – Hoover U5140-900 Tempo Widepath vacuum cleaner. This lightweight vacuum costs around $60, and easily makes the list for the top vacuum cleaner in the budget category. Besides being light and cheap, this vacuum has low dust emissions and comes with an allergen filter.

Cordless Model – Hoover Platinum Collection Linx stick vacuum. This is a fairly new arrival, but already has made its mark. The suction on this stick vacuum is tremendous. Plus, the on-off switch for the roller is a huge benefit for those of you who own carpets & bare floors. The one negative is the battery power – you can’t do large spaces all on one charge (but, it’s to be expected from a cordless machine).

Canister Model – Miele S4210 Carina. This is our pick for top canister vacuum cleaner because of its ability to clean bare floors, the build quality, and that it is lightweight. This machine is also super reliable and does great on allergies. It’s definitely on the pricier side, but if you have the money this vacuum is well worth it.

Upright Model – Eureka 4870MZ Boss SmartVac. This model easily takes the top vacuum cleaner spot for the upright model category. There are, of course, other superb upright models – however, the fact that this one only costs around $150 is why we chose it. This machine is also very quiet, the performance is outstanding, it has an on-off brush switch, it picks up pet hair with ease & the included attachments are wonderful. The only real negatives are that it’s fairly heavy and a little cheap looking.

Robotic Model – iRobot Roomba Discovery 510. This robotic vacuum is great with pet hair and has decent suction. It’s simple to set up and get running, and like all Roombas it does the vacuuming so you don’t have to. The container on the unit isn’t huge, but it should work fine for most users. It also stops when the container is full. Be aware though, it doesn’t have a programmable schedule and the maintenence needs on the vacuum cleaner can be pretty often.

Hoover WindTunnel Anniversary Edition Vacuum Review

Hoover WindTunnel AnniversaryMost Hoover WindTunnel Anniversary Edition vacuum reviews are generally favorable. The Hoover WindTunnel Anniversary Edition vacuum cleaner is a pretty basic model, and is mid-range as far as price goes. But don’t mistake a cheaper price with suction quality. The powerful suction on this machine is one of its best assets. Also, it is easy to maneuver in tight places and corners.

The Hoover WindTunnel Anniversary Edition vacuum cleaner is made of pretty lightweight plastic. This can be a positive or negative, depending on how you look at it. On one hand, it looks a little cheaper and some reviews complain that this vacuum cleaner’s parts break too easily. On the other hand, it is a little lighter than competitor vacuums (although, it’s not super light).

Overall, the Hoover WindTunnel Anniversary Edition vacuum cleaner is a decent buy for the money. It does all the basics quite well and the suction is great. However, the cheaper build quality leaves much to be desired.

Hoover Platinum Lightweight Bagged Upright with Canister Vacuum Review

Hoover Platinum Lightweight Bagged Upright CanisterA vacuum cleaner review of the Hoover Platinum Lightweight Bagged Upright with Canister vacuum cleaner states: “The Hoover Platinum bagged upright canister vacuum (UH30010COM) is simply the best. I can’t get over the auto carpet height adjuster, it’s such a neat feature. I really only like quality built vacuums, and this is definitely one of them. It really light, yet feels very sturdy in the hands. You can tell the difference if you pick up one of the cheaper competitor vacuums. The canister works great for all upholstery, couch and other tight places.

Although I can’t say enough positive about this vacuum cleaner, I also have a couple things I don’t really like. First is the price. It’s pretty expensive (but still worth it), at around $400. Next is that it doesn’t have an on-off switch for the brush roller. This is fine if you have only carpets, but if you have some bare floors, it can get annoying. Lastly are the bags. They aren’t exactly cheap, at around $5 a pop. All that aside, I haven’t had a vacuum I love this much – ever. The Hoover Platinum lightweight bagged upright canister vacuum cleaner is definitely recommendable.”

Hoover UH70015 Cyclonic Bagless Upright Vacuum Review

Hoover UH70015 Cyclonic VacuumA vacuum review of the Hoover UH70015 Cyclonic Bagless Upright vacuum cleaner says: “The Hoover UH70015 Cyclonic Bagless Upright (Platinum Collection) works better than I would have ever dreamed. The Windtunnel technology is great and picks up dog hair with ease. Plus, it sucks up all sorts of dirt and debris with no problems either. I used to own a Dyson, and I think this works at least as good if not better. The brush works really well too, which is probably because of the suction power this machine has.

I don’t really have many complaints about this vacuum cleaner yet. Maybe I will later on, but I’m not really worried, since there is a long 6 year warranty that’s included. I guess the one downside I have to mention is the price. It’s not cheap, at around $450. However, you get what you pay for – and this one is definitely worth the money. The Hoover UH70015 Cyclonic Bagless vacuum cleaner is a good option for those of you looking for a Dyson alternative, that actually works.”

Hoover Platinum Collection

Hoover Platinum Collection Bagless UprightSince the Hoover Platinum Collection of vacuum cleaners just came out, you may be wondering if any of them are worthwhile. The short answer is yes, but let’s take a look at each individual item and see what features may be worth the money. The most popular of the Hoover Platinum Collection are the LiNX BH50010 cordless stick vacuum & BH50015 handheld vacuum. They actually have very good suction, are lightweight & are very attractive. On the negative side though, the battery life is pretty dismal. I can’t say they are any worse than other cordless competitors, but the 15 minutes of run time isn’t wonderful. Other than that, they are a super buy.

The Hoover S3865 Cyclonic Bagless Canister is basically the same as previous Hoover canister vacuums, but with a new exterior. It does have Windtunnel technology & have great suction, so some users will definitely find this unit worth the money. However, you may just want to buy an older model if you’re looking to save money.

The Hoover UH70015 Cyclonic Bagless Upright vacuum is quite a looker. I think it is comparable to most Dyson’s as far as suction & looks go. Hoover did a good job at updating this one. It also has Windtunnel technology and a HEPA filter. It runs about $400, but has a 6 year warranty.

The Hoover UH30010COM Lightweight Bagged Upright with Canister is actually a decent combo. They compliment each other well, because the upright can vacuum your floors, while the canister can clean the harder to reach areas. It takes up a little more room to store both of them, but if you can’t decide between an upright and a canister – this may be the combo for you.

The Hoover F8100900 Carpet Cleaner rounds out the Platinum Collection of vacuum cleaners. It features an LED light and MaxExtract technology to help you get the most dirt out of your carpets. As with most carpet cleaners, it costs a good amount of money. If you need to constantly clean your carpet, it’s a good buy. However, if you just occasionally need a cleaning, you should probably just rent a unit from Wal-Mart.

Hopefully this rundown helps you pick out the best Hoover Platinum Collection vacuum for your needs.
