The Hoover FloorMate Hard Floor Cleaner is an interesting concept. It vacuums, washes and dries multiple hard floor surfaces. Other vacuum manufacturers have tried similar concepts, but I haven’t come across any that really do a spectacular job. I think the Hoover FloorMate is the best of the group, but even this model has it’s flaws. A couple things I don’t like: the liquid cleaner can get expensive and the filter needs replaced quite often. Now, I know you can make your own cleaner, which would be cheaper – but most people wouldn’t attempt to do that. Also, I don’t like how easily hair gets stuck on the bottom of the vacuum cleaner.
The Hoover FloorMate does work pretty well though. If you can get past the costs associated with using it, you’ll love not having to mop the old fashioned way. It especially does well on tile floors. A few other things I like about this vacuum cleaner: the cord is nice and long, it looks stylish, and the cleaner smells great. Overall, I wouldn’t give the Hoover Floormate top ratings, but I’m still giving it 3.5/5 stars.
My short Bissell Flip-It review: The Bissell Flip-It Bare Floor Cleaner is basically a combo unit. It functions as both a vacuum cleaner and a liquid-dispensing mop. When you have the vacuum side facing upwards, you can tilt the handle and suck up small debris, etc. Then, once you’re done vacuuming, you flip it to the other side and tilt the handle and it becomes a wet mop. There is also a trigger you can pull to release soap/liquids. It’s definitely an ingenious idea, but I’m only somewhat impressed – let me explain.
The Bissell Flip-It, when used as a vacuum, is nothing more than your average stick vacuum. It’s OK, but not great. The suction is barely powerful enough to pick up a few Cheerios, so don’t expect to vacuum your whole house with it.
The Flip-It’s mop side is another story. It works really well, and is almost worth buying just for this function. It will clean up your bare floors, and even has a squeegee and suction to dry up the floor as you go along. The Bissell Flip-It is a lot more fun to use than a regular mop/Swiffer.
While I’m not that impressed with the vacuum side of the Bissell Flip-It Bare Floor Cleaner, I still recommend this little combo unit because of it’s wet mop side. And even though the vacuum doesn’t work very well, you can just consider it a bonus that comes with the mop.
A Eureka ENVIRO Steamer review states: “The Eureka ENVIRO Steamer 313A2 has worked great for me. I actually had the 311A model for years, but I’m glad to see this one come back. This is a life-saver if you have a lot of tile like me. Mopping is a lot quicker and enjoyable. I read another rating that said to buy extra Magic pads, and I totally agree with her! You definitely need more than one, unless you are only cleaning a small room.
One thing you have to be careful of is not to make the pad too watered down. If this happens, the floors will remain wet for some time. You want to have the suggested amount of water on it, and it will dry up nice and quick. I would recommend the Eureka ENVIRO Steamer to those of you with a lot of tile or hardwood floors.”
A user reviews the Reliable Steamboy T1 Steam Floor Mop: “The Reliable Steamboy T1 Steam Floor Mop does streak and leave a film if you use tap water. The main difference is how much work it takes to get the muck off the floor. Instead of scrubbing and breaking a sweat all that caked on mud comes right off usually in one or two passes of the mop. That in itself sold me since I can sweep steam mop and then I go over the whole thing with the orange glow cloth to get it to shine up. I just enjoy that the Reliable Steamboy T1 Steam Floor Mop helps the reduce the amount of stress on my back from having to scrub all that mud and gunk off the floor before.”
A user reviews the Euro-Pro Shark S3101 Electric Steam Mop Cleaner: “I bought the Euro-Pro Shark S3101 Electric Steam Mop Cleaner because it said you could use it on hardwoods as well as tile. I used it first on a foreclosure house my brother bought and WOW…the tile was clean in super easy and super fast! It works wonders on my wood floors. No streaks and so light, even my 8 year old can use it. I like how easy it was to fill and change out the cleaning pad. The cleaning pad stays in place easily, unlike other mops I have used. I did purchase the Euro-Pro Shark S3101 Electric Steam Mop Cleaner at a local Bed Bath and Beyond using a 20% coupon but they WILL take items back if they break and you have the receipt. For something like this, I wanted that assurance without having to fuss with a shipping return.”
