The Electrolux EL6988E is a canister model, also known as the Oxygen. You can currently get it for around $300, so it’s definitely on the higher end. In this review of the Electrolux EL6988E vacuum cleaner, I’ll go over this canister model’s strengths and weaknesses, then decide if it’s worth spending the extra money. As far as looks go, I think this unit is beautiful. They did a wonderful job at making it attractive – both in design and color combination. Here’s quick rundown of features found on this model: a telescoping wand with three attachments, HEPA filter, headlight, 3 floor height adjustments, retractable cord, V belt technology, fingertip controls, electronic dust bag indicator, and it weighs just 13 lbs. Another nice thing about this vacuum is that there’s a separate motor on the power head system, which gives it a lot of extra power. This is especially useful for deep cleaning carpets. The HEPA filter works great – which I guess is the reason behind the naming of this model.
OK, onto the negative aspects of the Electrolux EL6988E vacuum. A couple things I notice right off the bat – I wish the bag was larger and that the cord was longer. Along with the bag being small, you have to buy them at a pretty regular pace, which can end up being a good deal of money. Another thing is that a few of the parts seem a little sub-par, which is often the trade-off for a lighter model. Lastly, the head is just a little too big to get under some couches, etc. Overall, I think the Electrolux EL6988E vacuum cleaner does a spectacular job at what it’s designed to do. There are just a couple flaws I wish the company would address, but this is the case with almost any unit. I’m giving this model a 4 / 5 star rating.
