The Dirt Devil Vision Cyclonic vacuum (model m140005red) has a 15 inch cleaning path and comes with a good amount of accessories. The Vision Cyclonic is easily one of Dirt Devil’s most powerful models, with a 12 amp motor. There are actually a number of note-worthy features on this vacuum: a 25 ft cord, HEPA filtration, multi-height adjustment, stretch hose, easy to empty dirt cup, headlight and of course the on-board tools I mentioned earlier. I particularly like the 5 height adjustments, which allows for easy carpet and hardwood cleaning.

I wouldn’t expect the Dirt Devil Vision Cyclonic to perform on the same level as the higher-end competitor models, but for $90 you can’t do a whole lot better than this one. As with a lot of Dirt Devil products, I think the plastic exterior seems a little cheap - but I haven’t heard of too many complaints about them breaking. Also, I think it works a lot better on carpets than bare floors. Even with these few issues, I still give the Vision Cyclonic a 4/5 star rating.

There are a lot of people who love their Kirby Sentria. After all, it does a great job on both carpeting and hardwood floors. The tools it comes with are quite useful as well. Also, the vacuum is fairly easy to clean, and the emissions are super low.

Unfortunately, the Sentria vacuum has a few issues that most buyers generally agree on. The loudness of this machine is definitely one of the top complaints. Also, a lot of owners find it a bit bulky and hard to push around. It really isn’t a light-weight model, so keep this in mind before you buy it. One other thing I have to mention are the sales tactics of the Kirby company - they are pushy. I know it doesn’t have anything to do with the actual Kirby Sentria vacuum, but the multi-hour presentation can certainly rub some potential buyers the wrong way.

So, is the Sentria worth the money? While I love the suction and tools this vacuum comes with, I really think most customers could find a similar alternative for about half the price. On that note, I am giving the Kirby Sentria a 3/5 star rating.

Well, we’ve done some research to help you out. There are actually two worthy vacuum models that can clean up your couch in no time. In our view, this vacuum has to have all these features: be small enough to get into really tight areas, have super strong suction, last longer than 15 minutes (assuming the vacuum is battery powered), and lastly it needs to be good with pet hair.

The vacuum we consider the best for couches is: the Dyson DC31. This one definitely costs more than most handheld vacuums, but it is also the best. Its small wand can get in just about anywhere. The suction is what really sets this one apart, you’ll notice the difference the first time you use it. Also, there is a pet friendly version of the DC31 that absolutely does great with pet hair.

The runner up in the best vacuum for couches category is: the Eureka 71B. This vacuum also has tremendous suction for a small handheld. It has a roller brush, which picks up pet hair quite well. You can also squeeze this vacuum into the corners and cracks of the couch for deeper cleaning. The pricing on this model is also considerably less than the Dyson, so it’s something to consider.

It vacuums, washes and dries multiple hard floor surfaces. Other vacuum manufacturers have tried similar concepts, but I haven’t come across any that really do a spectacular job. I think the Hoover FloorMate is the best of the group, but even this model has it’s flaws. A couple things I don’t like: the liquid cleaner can get expensive and the filter needs replaced quite often. Now, I know you can make your own cleaner, which would be cheaper - but most people wouldn’t attempt to do that. Also, I don’t like how easily hair gets stuck on the bottom of the vacuum cleaner.

The Hoover FloorMate does work pretty well though. If you can get past the costs associated with using it, you’ll love not having to mop the old fashioned way. It especially does well on tile floors. A few other things I like about this vacuum cleaner: the cord is nice and long, it looks stylish, and the cleaner smells great. Overall, I wouldn’t give the Hoover Floormate top ratings, but I’m still giving it 3.5/5 stars.

Well, you know if you go to their main website, you won’t find a lot of great deals - however they do have decent guarantees on a lot of products, which is worth something.

For the absolute lowest discount Oreck parts prices, you’ll want to check eBay, Craigslist and Amazon. The first 2 are kind of hit-or-miss, and you have to be careful to find reputable sellers. Another few good websites that sell cheap Oreck parts are: TotalVac.com, GoVacuum.com, and USAVacuum.com.

Another tactic some people choose to use, are to buy generic branded substitutes. This is OK most of the time, but if a problem arises with the part, you’re most likely on your own (no replacements or warranties). I would suggest sticking to Oreck branded parts - just use one of the tactics above to find that great discount price.

It’s marketed as an allergy-reducing vacuum cleaner, and it actually delivers quite nicely on that claim. It comes with a HEPA filter, which captures nearly all allergy and dust particles floating around your house. The On-Guard antimicrobial dust cup is a nice feature, keeping the dust from scattering around when you are emptying the cup. The brush roll also has antimicrobial bristles, which is supposed to help eliminate odors. The Eureka Clean Living vacuum’s on-board tools are easy to get to and use, although there are only a couple. It also has a height adjusting handle, which is great for short and tall alike.

Although I do like the Eureka Clean Living vacuum cleaner’s price tag ($90), I am not quite as impressed with it’s build quality. It should withstand normal use just fine, but it’s definitely not the toughest built vacuum out there. Also, I’m not so keen on the fact that the roller brush doesn’t have an on / off switch. Also, there are no electronic indicators or automatic rewind cord. But, those are fairly minor issues. Overall, I’m giving the Eureka Clean Living vacuum a 3.5 / 5 star rating.

As you know, the threads on this type of carpet are usually a little longer than a lot of alternative carpeting options. It looks great, but can be a pain to clean if you don’t have the right equipment. Well, I’ve researched many different vacuum models, and have come up with two models that should work great for your new frieze carpet.

The Electrolux Oxygen 3 is my top choice for the best vacuum for frieze carpet. There are different models of this vacuum cleaner, but they all seem to work very well on carpet. One that works especially well is the EL7020 canister model. It automatically adjusts the height, so you won’t be straining yourself trying to push the wand over the carpet. It does a great job on all styles of floors, so you shouldn’t have a problem going from tile to frieze carpet.

Hoover Tempo U5140-900 is my second choice. It’s a whole lot cheaper than the Electrolux model, which is always nice. The one thing I don’t like about this vacuum is that the beater bar doesn’t stop turning when you’re not on carpet. However, it does do a good job on frieze carpet and all other types of carpet as well. Plus it’s very lightweight, so you shouldn’t have a problem pushing this one around either.

The 12 amp motor gives it sufficient suction for even the thickest carpets. The vacuum is fairly lightweight, but I probably wouldn’t want to carry it up and down stairs too much. The long cord and useful attachments are definitely a bonus with this model. I also must admit, it seems a lot more stylish than competitor vacuums or even other Bissell models. Oh, and the canister is very easy to empty, without being to messy.

There is not that much I found wrong with the Bissell ProLite vacuum. One possible problem might be the durability of this machine. I don’t think it will break, but the build quality on this vacuum is a little sub-par (although, the overall look of the vacuum is quite nice!). Also, like I mentioned earlier - the Bissell ProLite is lightweight, but probably not as lightweight as they suggest. Lastly, it can be a little hard to push on thick carpet. Overall though, I would give this vacuum cleaner a 4/5 star rating.

The on-board tools work great for cleaning up hard-to-reach areas. It also has 5 height adjustments (for use on carpet or bare floors), a 30 foot cord, deluxe stretch hose and HEPA filtration system. A lot of pet owners are saying how well it works at sucking up pet hair. So, you can see what I mean by having more features than a normal $65 vacuum cleaner might have.

Suction on the Bissell PowerForce vacuum is great. However, quite a number of users are complaining about the loss of suction after this machine gets older. Also, be prepared for the cheaper build quality of this model. I guess it’s about what you’d expect from a $65 vacuum cleaner - so, no big deal there. Overall, the Bissell PowerForce vacuum 6585 model is definitely worth the money, and will work great for buyers on a tight budget.

For the most part, I would tend to agree with them. I think the Dirt Devil Easy Lite canister vacuum is a bargain at just $90. It’s not the best canister vacuum out there, but it’s hard to beat at that price.

There are a few things I really like about this model. First off, I noticed how quiet it runs - even the wheels on the canister itself didn’t make any noise when dragged around. I also like the suction power on the Dirt Devil Easy Lite. A few other features that make this an excellent buy: the handle is adjustable, it works well on carpet and hardwood floors (I think it works best on hard floors though!), the retractable cord and it is lightweight.

The Dirt Devil Easy Lite vacuum does have a few drawbacks as well. For starters, it’s a little hard to push over carpet. I know there is a setting for carpet, but it’s still not super easy. I also don’t like the quality of the attachments, they are pretty cheaply made. Those are the main two things I wish would be fixed. Other than that, I think the Easy Lite canister vacuum is a great buy. I give it a 4/5 star rating.

There seem to be a fair amount of vacuum sweepers available, but a lot of them are just plain junk. I did find two different models which I think are worth purchasing. They both have their good and bad qualities, but in general they do a good job at picking up light dirt around the house. Below are my two top vacuum sweeper picks.

The Dirt Devil Power Sweep BD20020 model makes my list as a best vacuum sweeper. A couple things I really like about this model is that it swivels at the base, it’s lightweight (4 lbs), the battery charge is pretty good and it has an easy empty button at the bottom. The price tag on this one is around $40.

The second one I really like is the Bissell Perfect Sweep Turbo vacuum sweeper. This model actually has a 3 brush system, so you can clean up any floor surface. It can also convert to a hand-held sweeper for tight places and stairs. The one thing that can get annoying is that hair gets snagged in the brush system and you have to clean by hand. However, this is a very common problem with most brush vacuums. This vacuum sweeper also sells for around $40.

The best vacuum for tile floors is most often the vacuum that works great on all hard flooring types. However, not all vacuums are created equally. In fact, you may have a machine that works just wonderfully on carpet, but scatters the dirt around on bare floors and tile floors.

For getting into the grout areas of the tile, you’ll want a machine that’s powerful enough to suck up all the dirt that’s stuck down in there. If it has a roller brush, it should be able to be turned on and off. I’ve come across two different units which I think do a great job on tile flooring (and all bare floors, for that matter).

What I would consider the #1 best vacuum for tile floors would be the Dyson DC14 All Floors model. The suction is perfect for getting the dirt out of all the crevices in the tile flooring. It also does well on other types of hard flooring, and even works great on carpeting. The one thing that’s tough to swallow is the price tag - around $400. So, even though it works great, it may not be for everyone.

The Eureka 4870MZ Boss is my #2 choice. The suction isn’t quite as strong, but it’s still very good. It comes with a fair amount of tools as well. You just need to remember to turn off the brush when you are cleaning bare floors, such as tile. The price tag is one of the more attractive features - around $150.

Actually, the Dyson DC23 Motorhead looks very similar to the DC22 I just reviewed - although, this model is powered by the Level 3 Root Cyclone system instead of the digital motor. It’s still a good system, but probably not quite as powerful nor does it have as much “cool” factor. A few features you’ll find on this vacuum cleaner are: a motorized brush bar (great for picking up pet hair), HEPA filter, a hose and wand that wrap around the vacuum, easy to empty canister, and a slew of additional wand fittings.

The fact that the Dyson DC23 Motorhead is so small is great for storing in tight places. One drawback to being small - the canister is not very big, so you’ll have to empty it quite often. There doesn’t seem to be a lot to complain about on this vacuum cleaner though.

Since it’s a canister vacuum, it is actually about 1/3 the size of a normal upright Dyson. But don’t mistake smaller for cheaper - it costs around $650-$700, which is more than any current upright model. I really like the filtration system on this model, it’s basically HEPA grade. I also love how small this vacuum is, making it really easy to stick in a small closet. And, like all Dyson’s, the suction is amazing and it’s bagless.

Even though the Dyson DC22 Turbinehead is small in size, it is actually quite heavy. I don’t really mind too much, because normally heavy equals a quality build. However, I can see it being a bit of a nuisance for people with a lot of stairs. You also have to be prepared to empty the canister at least once every time you use it (the canister is quite small). Lastly, I think the cord could have been a couple inches longer. It won’t reach across a big room very well.

So, I wouldn’t say this model is without faults. However, there’s a lot to like about the Dyson DC22 Turbinehead vacuum. I can’t give it 5 stars because of the price and the few minor issues I mentioned above, but I think it’s still worthy of 4/5 stars. Well done Dyson, once again.

The Electrolux QuietClean PU3900 is also, as the name suggests, very quiet. It actually reduces the noise level to less than a dishwasher’s. Another really neat feature on this model is the permanent HEPA filter. It basically cleans itself after every usage - which sure beats buying new filters every couple months. Oh, and when the vacuum needs emptying, it will actually tell you on the LCD screen.

As I mentioned earlier, the Electrolux QuietClean PU3900 claims to remove 100% of all dirt/dust. I don’t know if I quite believe that, but I do know that it’s much better than your average central vacuum cleaner.

If you haven’t used a central vacuum system before, it’s definitely something to consider. It’s especially useful for bigger, spread-out houses. All you have to do is plug the stretch hose into any one of multiple suction points throughout the house. It costs a lot more to set up in the beginning, but it can save so much time and energy in the future. I would definitely recommend the Electrolux QuietClean PU3900 if you’re in the market for a central vacuum.
